Oľga Bajusová

Oľga Bajusová was born on the 8^th of September 1954 in the city of Liptovský Mikuláš. She studied at the Printmaking and Book Illustration Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava under the supervision of Professor Albín Brunovský. Since 2003 she lived in the United States of America.

Beside magazine and book illustration designed especially for younger children, her main focus was printmaking and sporadically also animated film. Her figures – human, animal or fabulous are always nice and very attractive for young readers. Thanks to them children easily get identified with the text and understand the narrative of the book. Her illustrations are colourful and only slightly stylized. She often endowes her animal figures with anthropomorphic typology: she dresses them in human clothes or puts them in interiors of human homes and allows them communicate with human heroes. Her illustrations evoke fantastic world of animals and fairies in countries with bright colours. She illustrated more than thirty Slovak and foreign books.
