Illustration Features
Katarína Vavrová is an attractive and interesting artist. Her figures both male and female feature a grace and nobleness. They live their own lives, evolving the past and present stories. Her illustrations witness the high qualities of this leading artist´s work distinguished by a poetical and imaginative mood. Her beautiful, proud, peaceful and unruffled figures always bear a strong story behind. They may look a bit static, more as subject to events taking place around them. The most distinctive feature of her illustrations is the enigma. Things and situations are often barely hinted enabling the reader to interpret them according to his feelings and impressions they evoke. The author often makes use of the contrast between fragility and power. The overall impression of her illustrations is nostalgic and harmonious thanks to the colours she uses. The colours are fine, subtle and mystic.
