
Edgar Dutka
Biography
Edgar Dutka was born on 21st of May 1941. He is a university profesor, scriptwriter, director and writer. In 2005 he received National prize for literature for his book Slečno, ras přichází. He is a notable figure of czech animation. His distinctive humour, selective use of exaggeration and atmosphere has been influencing animation for over 40 years.

Edgar Dutka is an important personality of Czech animation. His distinctive humor, sense of hyperbole and emotion for the specific atmosphere of the moment have influenced animated film for over forty years. He completed his study of scriptwriting at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and between the years 1974 and 1990, he worked as a dramaturge, scriptwriter and director at the Short Film Studios Prague (Jiří Trnka Studio and Trick Brothers Studio). Edgar Dutka´s filmography connected with this period includes more than forty animated films and episodes from different series. Many of them have been awarded at Czecho-Slovak as well as at international festivals and they are still popular among children and adults today.
