Since 1955, she has devoted to animated film, first as a member of the Film Club in Annecy. It was in Annecy, France, where an idea to organise the first International Days of Animated Films (Journées Internationales du Cinéma d’Animation – JICA) was born in 1960. The festival in Annecy became a predecessor of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival (Festival International du Film d‘ Animation d‘Annecy). In 1971, she was a co-founder of the AAA Studios, creative workshops in Annecy. In 1977, she was elected a member of the Committee of the International Animation Association (l‘Association Internationale du Film d‘Animation – ASIFA). In 1992, she was given the Special Award by the ASIFA, and in 2002, she also received the Norman McLaren Heritage Award from the Canadian ASIFA for her life-long work.

Nicole Salomon has devoted a large part of her life to defending and promotion of animated film. She gathered around herself remarkable makers of animated films. In the AAA Studios, in which she worked for more than thirty years, she shaped young filmmakers, teaching them that it is not only the idea that is important for animation but also the search for the technique. The personality of Nicole Salomon is an integral part of the Biennial of Animation Bratislava (BAB). She was at the birth of the Biennial, and since the very beginning she has been one of the tireless co-workers, initiators of the first international meetings of professionals and pedagogues, and also of the first creative animated film workshops for children in Slovakia
