Illustration Features
Aleksandra Korejwo – the Polish animator, director, scriptwriter, artist. She has become internationally recognized for a large cycle of animated films popularizing the classical music compositions. Making use of the rare technique of loose materials, primarily sand and colour salt, she has presented little stories bound up with well-known musical pieces. Fascinating dynamism of changing images gives the impression of an on-the-spot improvisation at the first sight. Phasing of each movement of the grains of salt, however, conforms to the laws of the film montage. The author pointed to the importance of working with the rhythm and the precise synchronization of each picture with the musical score. The dizzying stream of image metamorphoses made of salt and sand evokes the coloured graphic prints by old masters.
