Illustration Features
The artist was awarded a Plaque for her illustrations for the book Riekanky (Rhymes) at the Biennial of Illustrations Bratislava. Her illustrations are both poetic and pragmatic, in figurative compositions artist's imaginative side is obvious and adequately communicating with the child psyche. The artist is characteristic with refined, sober colouring, especially in her earlier illustrations, poetic shortcuts, a bit monotonous typology of figures, whose faces resemble each other, and the stylization of shapes respecting reality. Her illustrations often have a painterly quality. They do not underestimate the child, but they are rather sincere and abide in the imaginary-poetic domain thanks to their compositional structures wherein dreams are intertwined with reality and expressive emotions. The flat passivity of some of her pictures, producing melancholy impressions, contrasts with the playful optimism, outpouring of colour and lyricism of recent years. The artist's techniques include watercolour and combined techniques.
