Zuzana Bočkayová-Bruncková

She was born on the 2^nd of March 1980 in the city of Martin. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava, the Printmaking and Book Illustration Department under the supervision of Professor Dušan Kállay. She interned at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, in the Studio of Printmaking. She lives and works in Bratislava.

She is a representative of younger, but very perspective and talented generation of Slovak illustrators. A cultivated painting characteristic for the artist is typical also for her illustrations. Colour belongs to her most important elements of expression. Prevailingly she uses soft, warm colours, which endows even fearsome scenes with a gentler look. Her figures and objects are robust and heavy; in most cases she fills up all the space with them, obtaining great dynamics and depth of space in her illustrations. She slightly stylizes her figures to acquire a characteristic expressions for them and a perceptive spectator always finds even a deeper message in them.
