The Most Beautiful Books of Slovakia

The Most Beautiful Books of Slovakia competition has promoted excellence in book art, design and printing production. Since 1993, it has been organized by BIBIANA, the International House of Art for Children, in cooperation with its partners (the Slovak National Library, the Slovak Printing Association, and other institutions), with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic.

An expert jury evaluates the submitted books and selects a collection of up to 20 titles. These are declared The Most Beautiful Books of Slovakia, and all creative contributors (authors, publisher, and printing house) receive a diploma.

The jury also awards special prizes in accordance with the current competition statutes. At present, the following awards are presented: the BIBIANA Award to a publisher for the most beautiful children’s book; the BIBIANA Award to an author for outstanding illustrations; the BIBIANA Award to a publisher for a bibliophile edition; the Slovak Printing Association Award to a printing house for exceptional printing and production quality, and the Slovak National Library Award for student thesis.
