Slovak Section of IBBY Awards

BIBIANA is the seat of the Slovak Section of IBBY (International Board on Books for Young People). Its activities focus on supporting and promotion of original literature for children and young adults, as well as organizing competitions, seminars, and other events.

The Slovak Section of IBBY nominates Slovak candidates for international awards in the field of children’s and young adult literature, including the IBBY Honour List, awarded to an author, illustrator, or translator for an outstanding book published within the past two years, and the Hans Christian Andersen Award, presented by an international jury for a significant contribution to children’s and young adult literature.

In addition, the Slovak Section of IBBY presents national awards to creators of children’s literature: the Triple Rose Award to a writer for his achievements in literature for children and youth, the Ľudovít Fulla Award to an illustrator for his achievements in book art for children and youth, and the Ľudmila Podjavorinská Plaque for contributions to the promotion of Slovak children’s literature abroad.
